13-year-old USC football fan Jake Olson was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, the development of cancerous tumors in both eyes, when he was one year old. Jake, having already lost his left eye and suffering eight bouts with his disease, learned that the latest recurrence of cancer would force him to lose his right eye. Facing an imminent future without eyesight, Jake wanted to see one more USC football game, and when then-coach Pete Carroll learned of Jake's wish, he invited him to practice, and made him a part of the Trojans football family.
